Closure of South West England Brand
Centre
As you probably know, the South West RDA will close by March
2012 as stipulated by the Coalition Government. All of our regional
marketing projects have now ceased and so it with regret that we
will be closing this South West England brand centre at the end of
June 2011 (www.southwestbrand.info).
However we are confident the South West England brand will live
on after our demise as it is our intention to transfer it to the
South West Tourism Alliance so it can continue to be utilised on
behalf of the region.
We cannot comment on how the Alliance would provide access to
the brand but it is a primary stipulation that it continues to be
free to use and is available to all regional stakeholders. However,
should the transfer go ahead, it is likely that it will be hosted
on www.swtourismalliance.org.uk.
Can I thank you for your support of the South West England brand
and make it clear that you can continue to use the “Proudly
Supporting…” brand collateral within your marketing activities.
It has been a privilege and pleasure to work on the South West
England project with the RDA and South West Tourism marketing teams
over the past eight years and I trust that the brand and its
associated campaigns have proved beneficial to your organisation.
The campaigns themselves always produced an ROI (Return on
Investment) of over 10:1 and helped to reposition the region as an
exciting and dynamic place to visit and invest both within the UK
and internationally.
I hope you will continue to use the South West England brand and
positively engage with it in future as part of developing and
enhancing our region’s economy.
Ian Watson, Head of Marketing, Communications and
Information, South West RDA
This Brand Centre will close at the end of June
2011.
